1: What is a computer-based information system?

A computer-based information system is an information system in which the data is mostly collected, stored, analyzed, and processed in digital format using computerized processes. A data processing system into a high-quality information and can be used as tools that support decision- making, coordination and control as well as visualization and analysis.

2: Describe the components of computer-based information systems. -Hardware: consists of devices such as the processor, monitor, keyboard, and printer. Together, these devises accept, process, ad display data and information.

-Software: is a program or collection of programs that enable the hardware to process data.

-Database: is a collection of related files or tables containing data.

-Network: is a connecting system that permits different computers to share resources.

3: what is an application program? An application program is a computer program designed to support a specific task or business process.

4: Explain how information systems provide support for knowledge workers. All knowledge workers are experts in particular subject area. They create information and knowledge which they integrate into the business.

5:As we move up the organization’s hierarchy from clerical workers to executives. How does the type of support provided by information system change? As we moving up in the organization, systems are used to analyze and provide information for decision making purposes. It will be more specific, higher level information and more and more summarized.
