Image of Salvation Essay Marcia Shiflett Liberty University

The images of salvation are the following: adoption, conversion, regeneration, redemption, reconciliation, justification, election, sanctification, and glorification. This essay will be about the image of salvation redemption. In the Christian world redemption means to deliver Christians from sin. This is what is achieved through the atonement process. When Jesus died for our sins, he released us from our bondage to sins and death. Redemption and salvation go hand in hand. Salvation is defined as the act of being saved from the eternal consequences of sin. Their definitions are very closely related to each other because both are about being saved from sin. The only difference in the definitions that I have noticed is that atonement did not say anything about death or the release from it.

Jesus died for our sins and sought to cleanse us of our sins and break us from our bondage. Jesus came to <seek and to save the lost= (Luke 19:10). <Without the victory of the resurrection, the death of Jesus would have been in vain. For death by itself is no victory, no matter how well- meaning the sacrificial lamb, no matter how noble the cause. Through His resurrection, Christ broke the power of death once and for all time. Salvation was not completed only because of the cross. It was completed by the victory of the empty tomb. -Katherine Walden= Redemption is simply the price God paid to get us back for his purpose. <He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds, he determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.= (Psalm 147:4). In all three definitions; biblical, theological, and historical, we see that it all comes back to Jesus dying to save us. All of these passages are very important when understanding redemption and salvation. They really make people think about what is being spoken to them in a different type of way.

The relationship between redemption and sin is pretty simple. Jesus died to release us from our sins and bondage. Redemption assumes a position in salvation because everything that we do is in question from a greater power than human beings. Sins are made when we want to do things that are selfish for ourselves rather than following God. People always make sins it is only human nature. No one person is perfect and there for we will make mistakes. The dictionary defines redemption as, the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. So, having said that, redemption allows people to make mistakes but have some sort of comfort that they will still have the opportunity to be saved. Sinning unfortunately is a part of life and God knows that we will sin in our lives because not one person is perfect.

The biblical idea of redemption can be used in the classroom setting. Knowing that Jesus and God can forgive you from your sins can really help to allow you to accept things that may happen in your classroom. If you believe that redemption is able to happen then people will be more willing to accept the sins that their students may make during the classroom setting. This will allow peoples fundamental ideas of their classroom work out better. Being able to be sympathetic like God will help in the classroom as well. People will be able to view their students in the eyes of God and accept them for all of their quirks and faults that they may have. Teachers can also teach kids about forgiveness and kindness which is part of the bible as well.

The teachings do not have to be just like the bible says they can be an adaptation of that. Working in a public school does not allow you to teach anything about the bible to the students but it doesn’t have to be directly related. The Bible is in our everyday lives and many people don’t even notice that it is.

In conclusion redemption is very closely related to salvation. Redemption is what happens through the process of atonement. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our bondage to our sins. The biblical idea of redemption can also be used in the classroom very effectively. Many aspects of people’s biblical world view can be carried out with parents and students without being clearly talking about the bible which is not a good idea because not everyone has the same views as you. Redemption and salvation go hand and hand. They have a lot of similarities that can coincide.
