College Writing 1 American Dream Essay One of the most important steps in creating a better future is to educate today’s youth. Educators have the task of giving a valuable education to the newer generation, which would benefit many of these youth in the future. There are a number of countries that prosper due to the high level of education of the overall population. If all countries around the world are able to educate its population, international communication will become unchallenging and advantageous for the world. Education could be gaining knowledge from teachers or life experiences, to learning the difference between right or wrong. In other words, education allows one to choose an ethical path to follow. For that very reason, many people try their best to receive a higher education in seek of fulfilling the American Dream. For past generations, the American Dream was to finish high school, go to college, and eventually obtain a well paying job, which would allow one to create their own family, own all the luxuries in the world, and not lift a finger. Many thought of America to be the a country where all of your dreams will come true, and that one day there would be a possibility of becoming wealthy. However, one must come to the realization that education is America doesn’t come cost-free. Therefore, one’s American Dream could either be fulfilled or unattainable depending on their access to education. There comes a fork in the road when one finishes high school and thinks about their future life. While the thought of having a life full of luxuries is pleasant, it’s nearly impossible to do so without receiving an extended education. Most teenagers’ biggest or top goals is to get accepted into their dream university, leading them a step closer to their desired future. If one proceeds with their education and receives their degree, they are at an advantage, as not everyone has the opportunity to do so. One who has received a college education goes into the world being able to get an entry level job in their field of study, and pursue their career. One will not be restricted to pursue the career on which they planned, as there are always a number of related occupations. On the other hand, while attending college and receiving a bachelors/masters degree sounds incredible, the price of college in incredibly high. Unless one receives a ton of financial aid, grants, or scholarships, the thought of the cost will always be running through ones mind. In many cases, this may not be the story for those who don’t need any financial support to attend college. Most Americans that have graduated from college would be able to verify that there will be some type of student debt after concluding your studies. For instance, studies done at collegedata show that the average college debt of a public university is around $22,000, while a private university is nearly $43,000(​Marc Joseph​, 09/17/2013). This way one will have money to provide for their future family. Also, by one saving their money wisely, they will be able to one day achieve the high goals that they have set for themselves in America. Once one accomplishes this, one will know they have achieved the American Dream. Depending on one’s choice ability to extend or achieve their education, one can achieve the ultimate American Dream. Many would expect for it to be easy to become wealthy in America and not have to work to their maximum potential. People in the past would think of America to be a land where one will receive everything they hoped of having, but the reality is harsh. It would be great if America was truly “the land in which life should be better and richer.. opportunity for each.” One must persist to expand their higher education, as it is one of the best ways to fulfill the American Dream.” As it is the task of the educator to fill the younger generation with brightness, it is crucial that today’s pupils are properly educated if they’re the ones who are the face of tomorrow.
