Course Description:

The course provides the student with foundational information about the U. legal system and

dispute resolution, and their impact on business. The major content areas will include general

principles of law, the relationship of business and the U. Constitution, state and federal legal

systems, the relationship between law and ethics, contracts, sales, torts, agency law, intellectual

property, and business law in the global context.

Course Objectives - Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of varying areas of Business Law.
  • To help develop organizational skills in relation to Business Law.
  • To develop the correlation between people and laws relating to business in our current environment.

Expectations of Students:

Based on the grading system in the Roxbury Community College Handbook, a final grade will

be assigned for a student’s demonstration of their level of competency regarding the course’s

learning outcomes.

Letter Grade Description

A 94 -

This grade is awarded for work whose quality is at an exceptionally high level for an undergraduate student.

A– 90 - 93.

This grade indicates high but not exceptional level of quality.

B+ 87 - 89.

This grade indicates quality which is slightly above the expected level.

B 84 - 86.

This grade is awarded for work whose quality is at the expected level.

B– 80 - 83.

This grade indicates quality which is slightly below the expected level.

C + 77 - 79 This grade indicates quality which is slightly above fair.

C 74 - 76.

This grade is awarded for work whose quality is fair, but still below the expected level.

C – 70 - 73 This grade indicates quality which is slightly below fair.

D+ 67 - 69 This grade indicates a slightly poor achievement.

D 64 - 66 This grade indicates a poor achievement.

D– 60 - 63 This grade indicates a very poor achievement.

F below 60 This grade is awarded for work whose quality is at a failing level.

** I - Grade Criteria: An Incomplete grade (or “I-grade”) may be given only when the student

was approved to make up a single key requirement of a course such as a paper, exam, or major

report. The student and instructor must complete/sign an Incomplete Grade Contract before the

end of the course.

You are welcome to pick a topic that we have discussed, or a topic highlighted in the textbook. Pick your topic and submit in the form of a well written paragraph (100 - 200 words), describing your topic choice and why you chose the topic. Due on Sunday February 21st, by 11:55 pm.
