Identify Two of the Axis countries and Explain how nationalism in those countries helped cause World War II.

Nationalism in the Axis countries such as Germany and Italy helped cause and lead to World War II. For example, in Germany the Treaty of Versailles really angered the Germans. Hitler wanted to rip apart the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty put Germany in a really bad position because they were force to pay respirations, they lost territory, and had military restrictions. Hitler along with the Germans believed that Germany should be a world power instead of a regular run-of-the-mill country. That’s how nationalism influenced World War 2 in Germany. In Italy the fact that one promise that was made but not executed really upset the Italians. Italy was promised land after WW1 but never got their promised land. Due to the fact that they felt like they weren’t being respected enough they felt World War 2 was necessary. Fascism also impacted Italy because they wanted to do whatever it took to advance the nation which also led to WW2.

Explain three factors that brought about Hitler’s rise to power in Germany. Be sure to explain each factor.

The Treaty of Versailles was one factor that brought about Hitler’s rise to power. The fact that the Treaty of Versailles put guilt of causing the WW1 on Germany, demilitarized them made Hitler look good because he promised to fix everything and the Nazi Germans believed him. The next factor that gave Hitler the ability to rise to powers was economic struggles. Such as unemployment, since the Germans were struggling so badly to get a job they were basically forced to agree with Hitler because his plan at the time seemed beneficial to the Germans. Due to the fact the country was in debt the democratic government failed. Debt put Germany in a bad position because they owed so much money to other countries. Hitler promised German people that he would get them out of debt and would make Germany a super power again. It didn’t help that Great Britain and France did not stop Germany from conquering areas when they had the chance to.

Describe how the treat of Versailles and the League of Nations gave rise to World War 11 (one example each).

The League of Nations also gave rise to World War 2. For example, just due to the fact that the League of Nations did not have a military basically took the purpose out of the League of Nations. If countries did not agree with the League they would just leave because there was no threat imposed upon them. Since they had no military they were the dog that could bark but had no teeth. There was no military to enforce people to do things. There was also appeasement toward the Germans because Britain and France did not stop Germany from conquering area. The treaty of Versailles also gave rise to WW2 because the Germans were forced to pay respirations, they lost territory, and had military restrictions. This treaty angered the Germans and this treaty only motivated people like Hitler to strive for World dominance.

Compare and Contrast the treatment of non-combatants (civilians) by the Japanese and Germans during World War II. Make sure to discuss the characteristics of both countries’ actions.

Japanese and German treatment of civilians during World War 2 were completely different. Japanese people would sacrifice their babies by throwing them off cliffs. Militants would also dress like innocent civilians and kill American soldiers. The Rape of Nanking would also be a prime example of how they treated civilians because they raped and killed tons of Chinese people. Germans were completely different. Many Germans were involved in the Jewish resistance. Sometimes they would hide the Jews in their houses or smuggle them in pre-made underground areas.

Identify a theater in WW11 and describe a specific battle/event that was fought within that theater.

One theater that World War 2 was fought in was the Pacific theater. In the Pacific theater battles such as Midway, Okinawa, and Pearl Harbor were fought. Pearl Harbor was one of the most important battles in World War 2 because it woke up a sleeping giant. This battle was between Japan (represented the Axis Powers) and the United States (represented the Allies). On December 7th, 1941 the Japanese the U. fleet of Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian land of Oahu. In this attack the U. lost 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, and 8 ships. Japan, ultimately won this war but they realized that they just woke up a giant and a bully. The U. officially entered the war after this attack. Japan would ultimately regret bombing Pearl Harbor because what happened after Pearl Harbor was not pretty for them.

Compare and Contrast strategies, technology, and weaponry used in World War 1 and World War 2.

There was a significant change between World War 1 and World War 2 when talking about strategies, technology, and weaponry used. In World War the battles and movement were pretty stationary. Soldiers were not constantly on the move. In fact they would usually stay in one position for quite some time. Tactics such as trench warfare were used in WW1. Tear gas and tanks were often used as weapons in WW1 because they were most effective. Submarines were also used in World War 1. Technology during WW1 was not advanced at all. However, World War 2 was completely different. WW2 was much more fluid, meaning that the militaries were constantly on the move. This tactic was known as Blitzkrieg (fast warfare also known as lightning war). In WW2 aircrafts (panes) were often used. These aircrafts were designed to hold nuclear weapons. They more efficient and fast. Nuclear weapons were also used in World War 2. These bombs were capable of destroying a whole city. The United States used this bomb to destroy Japan and force them to give up. Napalm was also used in WW2. Technologic advance such as Radar was also used to locate attackers and invaders.
