UNIV 1141 – Pitch Worksheet

Name: Oluwatoyin Gbadebo

Project Title (This is the title you used on the poster):Recycling

How will you hook your listener at the beginning?

I’m going to use a fact

What is the problem?

The problem is that students of the University of New Haven are not properly recycling items.

Why and to whom is the problem important?

This problem will affect our school environment and teachers, staff, and students. This problem is important because lack of proper recycling leads to pollution to the air, a decrease of wildlife, and all the pollution will cause human beings to have respiratory issues which will predominately impact our lungs. And our lungs are supposed to help us breath.

What is the solution?

The solution is to create a workshop for incoming students to be informed on how to recycle.

What is your deliverable?

I would utilize graphics to catch the attention of students to participate in the program. It will be a fun and educational course.

How will the deliverable that you designed effect a solution?

Our deliverable will be effective because people draw into art, and when you illustrate the problem that is taking place, people start to see the visual as reality. Pictures help give people an opportunity to get an idea of what to change. For example, if you go to our workshop yes you will hear information about recycling, and it can go right out of the ear, but when you see pictures you pay attention to the details of the effects of what not recycling properly can do.

Draft your Pitch below. It should only be 120-240 words, but must include the above information:

According to waste360 “14 million students enrolled in colleges and universities a-cross the United States in 1992, campuses generated 3 million tons of waste, or about 2 percent of the U. solid waste stream.” You know this can be an extreme problem, especially if students do not properly recycle waste that is on our campus grounds. This is important because having waste and pollution with affect our respiratory system which is not good. So, I decided to create a program where we can inform students how and what to recycle. I would use graphic art, pictures designed for you to look at. This will be very good, because visuals help people engage more, because illustrations catch the eye when there is colors and details. These illustrations will show you the reality of recycling at our university. Hopefully, this will enable you to change your ways and not only help you but the community.
