Task 2 1 Task 2 Courtney Fisher Student # 001042750 Western Governors University Healthcare Ecosystems C799 Diana Gardner Task 2 2 The organization I have chosen to address the impact on growth, service, the impact on healthcare delivery, and emerging trends is Corona Regional Medical Center in Corona, California. A. Impact on growth In the early months of 2016, a $35 million construction project commenced at Corona Regional Medical Center. The goal of this project was to begin improvements to the Emergency Department as well as quadrupling it to 20,000 square feet. This once cramped 16 room department, that about 277,000 people depend on, grew to a 30-room department. (Press Enterprise, 2019) The reason for the expansion of this facility is to do to an increased population of not only in the city of Corona but also in the county it resides, The Inland Empire. Population increase in these areas is a result of cheaper housing. Corona’s population alone has grown from 76,095 in 1990 to 166,507 in 2016, that means in 26 years the population has more than doubled in size. (Worldpopulationreview, 2019) Not only does Corona Regional Medical Center serve the city of Corona but it also provides services to neighboring cities like Norco and Eastvale. For people living in Corona, Norco, and Eastvale, Corona Regional Medical Center is the closest ER facility. To accommodate the growing population, the facility needed to expand their Emergency Room. B. Service A service that Corona Regional Medical Center provides to its patients is inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. Inpatient behavior health services are provided at The Willows, this unit provides mental health treatment for adults age 18 and older. The unit is locked for the for safety and accommodated voluntary and involuntary admission. Outpatient behavior health services are provided for individuals who do not need 24-hour care. The goal of Task 2 4 remote care at Corona Regional Medical Center from a highly trained UC Irvine neurologist. With telestroke doctors and patients communicate using a video monitor, the stroke expert works with the patient’s local doctor to recommend diagnosis and treatment. The goal is to provide care at your nearby facility to avoid the need to transfer to another medical facility, which is important since time is of the essence for stroke victims. Patient’s living in Corona is over 20 miles away from a specialized stroke facility like UC Irvine Health. (Ucihealth, 2019) Task 2 5 D. Sources Corona Regional Medical Center.
