Top priorities for HR leaders in 2023

Speak to an expert

####### The past couple of years has been an enor-

####### mous test for HR leaders. With an abrupt

####### shift to remote work, mass resignations, and

####### economic volatility – there have been

####### challenges on all fronts!

####### We look at the top priorities for 2023, and

####### where to focus your energy – driving a

####### positive impact across your people and

####### organisation.

####### Here are the 2023 HR priorities for you:

With work becoming increasingly individualised and teams spending less time in the office, data shows that employees rely on work friendships a lot less. This is unsettling for HR, as previously, there was a strong link between work friend- ships and engagement. Work doesn’t look the same, and in a world without after-work drinks, shared lunch breaks and office conversations to build work bonds, businesses need to work harder to ensure em- ployees are engaged through regular check- ins and virtual team meetings. Leaders must adapt to the new rules of engage- ment for younger generations of the workforce. A digital age calls for a digital solution. One that reaches and connects your people wherever they are. One that leverages AI technology to address personal health and wellbeing needs. And one that surprises and delights.

Driving employee

engagement

Following the ‘Great resignation’ recruiting has become increasingly difficult. The ways com- panies usually recruit is insufficient and just not landing. Employees want to protect their time, benefits, and professional growth. Although flexible hours, higher pay, strong benefits are the baseline

  • these alone are not enough to attract top talent. According to Gartner’s HR survey, 36% of HR leaders say their recruiting strategies fall short when finding the skills they need. Reputation is everything: Develop and promote a strong brand that highlights company ethics, employee growth, a vibrant culture, and stable finances. If potential recruits see that your people are at the heart of your business and their needs are well catered for, they will be more likely to want to join your business culture.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental health has taken a hit over the last couple of years and as a result burnout is still on the rise as people cope with the fallout. Psychological safety in the workplace will be key in building a trusted environment that supports people and helps them thrive. HR leaders must take action to support their employees’ mental wellbeing. Not just for the health, performance, and productivity of their workers. But for the health and performance of the organisation too. Take a look at our 2023 Mental Wellbeing Toolkit for further resources on how to support your employees.

Employee-Manager
relationships

It’s no secret that management has become increasingly complicated in hybrid work environments, along with managers expectations growing exponentially. HR managers in 2023 will be shifting their focus toward developing relationships with new and existing team members. Emotionally distant managers should be becoming a thing of the past. Employees really need empathetic managers who are authentic and open. Managers also need support, training, and resources to increase their soft skills.

They will need to work in partnership to tackle all

the challenges that lie ahead.
