ESSAY

When you hear the word “ history” what’s come in to your mind? Do you have any idea? Sometimes do you think about, why do we need to study history? Is it beneficial for us? So together let’s discover the importance of studying history. This paper will discuss the importance of learning history, especially the history of the Philippines. The importance include, knowing the identification or the origination of Philippines and its people, discovering its culture and to overview the progress or development of the nation.

One of the importance of learning history is to know the identification or origination of something. Especially, on the subject of this topic, which is the history of the Philippines. If someone knows the identification of something, he or she will have a better understanding about the matter associating with that something. For example knowing the identity of the Philippines, helps Filipinos understand the past and connect the happenings or it can be a significant source that can help with present and future situation of the country. Of course it can help in enhancing the nationalism and patriotism among fellowmen.

Second is to discover something, like the culture of Filipinos, including different habits, philosophies and beliefs. Discovering those things can widen someone’s knowledge about different cultures, people who knows the culture of others can gain a huge respect from the people of the community. So that if you’re planning to visit some places, try to search some things it is okay even if a small details just make sure you have a little bit knowledge about their lives or beliefs. So that you can’t experience a culture shock and they can socialize with you comfortably.

Third one is for us to overlook the situation of the past, so that we can see the progress or development of our country. Do the country growth? Or it became worst than before? Overview is important so that we can learn something from the past that we can apply in the present or future, we can also formulated a plan or predict problems or issues that we can encounter in the future. Also looking over the past can make someone appreciate something. Like studying the history of the Philippines, we Filipinos can be proud and appreciative in what we have as a nation.

Overall there are many importance of studying history especially the history of the Philippines, like to know the identification or the origination of the country and its people, discovering its culture and to overview the progress or development of the nation and many more. We can conclude that learning history can make us appreciative, knowledgeable, respective and can prepare us in terms of facing problems in the current and future generation in terms of improving the economy by innovating significant resources for a better community that we can gather from the past.
