Ten years from now, I see myself as a Doctor.

Everyday, as I wake up in the morning, I stretch my arms and imagine myself wearing a lab gown, with a stethoscope around my neck. Yes, I want to become a doctor someday. I want to cure those who are suffering physically due to diseases. There's something in me that tells me to be that kind of person to heal someone that's been deprived on walking, on chasing his/her own dreams. Yet here I am asking, where should i start?

First things first: Graduate from Senior High School. Well, we’re already now on our 3rd quarter and the graduation ceremony is approaching so fast. Can’t wait! But of course i still need to strive and do my best for me to get into my dream university and course. I did well on my Junior High journey so it makes me a bit confident on getting accepted to my dream college.

Approximately three months left and we will say goodbye to our High School life. As i write this reflection, i’ve come to realize that we will be experiencing a sudden shift in our usual routines. No more immaturity. No more comfort zones. No more shyness. And yes to courage and persistence. How can I do it?

I am the author of my own life and every choice i make becomes part of my story. One wrong move might drag me down into the nightmare that I fear: Crying for making the wrong move and buried underneath countless what ifs.

So it's up to me now? Should i consider the factors around me? Such as my socio-economic status, abilities and skills, what my parents want me to be and my own dream job? We are poor and my parents can't afford to send me to medical school. How can I achieve that “meaningful and successful exit from senior high school”?

There's a lot of hindrance and a lot of things to consider. It's a good thing i watched a video before, "The Choice I Make" by Ruth Chang. It enlightened me on how to make hard choices. She said there's no best alternative. Just choose and that's it. I may view one choice greater than the other one but every options we have weighs equally. We just view a choice different. from the other/s. But whatever i choose, i must look a reason inside me that can strengthen my spirit to strive and pursue it. Do not look for reasons around you. You can't control them but it can control you. Don't let it be that way. Exclude your socio-economic status. You still can be practical. Can 1? Of course! I may apply for a scholarship, If you want then go get it. If i want that course, then I'll pursue it.

Everyone's the author of their own life. They can control what will happen next to them. We all have the power to put ourselves into the person we want to become regardless of the factors that hinders us from achieving our dreams. As for me, the reflection infront of my mirror giving me imaginations on who i want to become. The decision-making finally over. I chose what's best for me. Yes! I am Cristine Joy Sablay and i can't wait to finally say:

I am a Doctor now!
