Subject: Nursing
A 19-year-old Aboriginal male patient, Ahmed, was admitted in the hospital after a road traffic accident in which he suffered a head and spinal cord injury. Ahmed has a history of asthma and severe lactose intolerance. He is currently incontinent for both bowel and bladder. The subdural hematoma has left him confused and disoriented to person, time and place. The ED nurse has told you that given his unstable mental condition, the patient is non-compliant.
Q10. Briefly outline the manner in which outcomes of nursing interventions provided to Ahmed may be evaluated in terms of:
- Evaluation of own contribution to nursing plan of care
- Progress towards outcome in the nursing care plan
- Quality of care provided, and changes required in line with best practice in nursing
- Culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Q11. Is it important to document the record of evaluation undertaken in Ahmed’s case file. Why or why not? State at least one (1) reason for your answer.
