Student Name: Sarah Studer Skill Module: ATI Neuro part 1 List 5 new concepts you learned from the module(s); be specific and detailed. 1 that the nervous system is made up of 2 different systems. The central nervous system and the Peripheral nervous system. The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord while the PNS consists of the cranial and spinal nerves as well as the autonomic nervous system.

2 Afferent nerves are responsible for sending signals to the brain while Efferent nerves send signals from the brain throughout the body.

3 The autonomic nervous system is comprised of the Sympathetic nervous system as well as the Parasympathetic nervous system.

4 The brain is made up of 4 different lobes. The parietal, the occipital, the frontal and the temporal lobe.

5 Both the CNS and the PNS contain Neurons which are cells that conduct nerve impulses.

In 3 to 4 sentences describe one piece of evidence-based knowledge on this topic. The nervous system is imperative to ensuring the body functions properly. The nervous system regulates vital body functions such as the heartbeat, digestion and breathing as well as how our body moves and sensations we feel. The nervous system is comprised of the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS (brain and spinal cord) is responsible for incoming sensory information. The PNS (cranial and spinal nerves and ganglia) is responsible for signals being sent between the CNS and the body's muscles, glands, and sensory receptors. The nervous system is also divided functionally in terms of motor activities into the somatic and autonomic divisions.
