-Know the differences between colonial life in the northern and southern colonies. The difference between the northern and southern states were tremendous. The southern colonies were founded to give colonist chance to grow economically. While the south was worrying about money the northern colonies were founding themselves for political and spiritual freedom. the south had a warm climate while the north was much colder. The north had great soil for farming while the north struggled to find good reliable soil. The way the north and south functioned economically is another big difference between the two. The north thrived off of trade and manufacturing while the south relied on their crops. The biggest difference to me is that the southern colonist had slaves and the northern ones did not. If I lived in this time, I hope that I would end up in the northern colonies.

-The Pilgrims and Puritans are two of the best-known groups that settled in the colonies. What makes them memorable in history? What is the difference between them? Memorable: Pilgrims - Thanksgiving. Puritans - largest migration. Difference: Pilgrims - separatist. Puritans - purify from within.

-What colonies developed because of sectional divisions in Massachusetts Bay? Roger Williams - Rhode Islands, New Hampshire - Ann Hutchins, Connecticut - Thomas Hooker

-What was the original system of labor in the colonies before slavery? Indentured Servants

-The British passed the Navigation Acts and Staple Act in an effort to regulate trade. What were the terms of the acts? Navigation act - English built, or 75% British exports to British port. Staple - Imports pass through British port for taxing.

-Who was involved in Bacon’s Rebellion and what was the outcome of it? former indentured servants who lost their right to vote, Virginia moved and used slaves. king apposed.

-Know the main details of King Philip’s War. colonists vs. Wampanoag / colonist were taking land

-What was the Dominion of New England, and why was it created? one large New England colony, Edmund Andros, elected assembles.

-The Salem witch trials began with three accusations. Who made them, and who did they accuse, and why were these women easy targets? Accusers - Elizabeth Paris, Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam. Accused - Ti-tuba slave, Sarah Good homeless poor, Sarah Osborne old.

-The French and Indian Wars finally settled the fight between French and British colonists over land. Know the names of them, which was the most important, and what the outcome was of the last war. Ended in 1763 with victory at Quebec ended seven years' war with the British winning. King William, Queen Anne, King George. British won and got everything east of the Mississippi River and Canada.

Possible Short Answer Questions Two of these will be on the exam, you will choose one to answer.

-In what ways did the French and British differ in how they interacted with the Native Americans they came in contact with? What effect did this have for each in the future?
