●What do you already know about the field of psychology, and how did you learn that?
I started taking A-level psychology in my previous school during my junior year, which allowed
me to have a sense of the course of psychology. This interesting subject has taught me about how
people, including myself, react, interact, and behave in different ways. It explores the human
brain/mind and the concept/science behind people’s thoughts and feelings.
●Why did you choose to take this class, and how you are feeling about it? Excited?
Nervous? Confident?
I would like to have a deeper understanding of how humans behave and the reasons for their
actions. Although I do not find other sciences (biology, physics, chemistry) interesting, I find
psychology and the study of the mind fascinating. I am excited to learn topics such as emotions-
why do we have different emotions- and social factors affecting our emotions.
●What psychological disorders--anxiety, depression, mood disorders, etc.--impact your life
on a regular basis? There is no need to provide names or specific details regarding friends
or family members. You are welcome to keep this answer very general.
Psychological disorders such as anxiety, stress, and mood swings would most likely to happen
when you are overwhelmed with a certain situation or under certain circumstances. This
sometimes applies to me due to factors in schools, family situations, etc.
●What are some of your strengths as a learner? What are some of the challenges you
face when learning something new?
A strength that I have in the learning environment would be that I can collaborate with my peers
effectively. Teamwork projects allow me to build relationships with my classmates and teachers.
A challenge would be facing overwhelmedness. This is because psychology is strongly related to
other science subjects such as biology, neuroscience, chemistry, etc, it would be hard to learn
and identify different ideas and concepts at the same time, especially for my lack of interest in
other sciences fields.
