Ukraine and Russia War

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in 2014, following the ousting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russia's annexation of Crimea. The conflict has escalated into a multi-faceted war, involving separatist rebels in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as ongoing fighting in the Black Sea region.

The war has resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of over 1 million people. It has also strained relations between Russia and Western countries, leading to economic sanctions and diplomatic tensions.

The cause of the war can be traced back to the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, which saw the ousting of President Yanukovych and the rise to power of pro- Western leaders. Russia, which had long viewed Ukraine as within its sphere of influence, saw this as a threat to its own security and interests.

In response, Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014, citing the need to protect ethnic Russians living there. This move was met with international condemnation and the imposition of economic sanctions by Western countries.

In the months that followed, separatist rebels in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk declared independence, with the support of Russia. Fighting broke out between the rebels and Ukrainian government forces, leading to a full-scale war.

The war has since escalated, with Russia providing military support to the separatists, including weapons, soldiers, and equipment. Fighting has also spread to the Black Sea region, where Russia and Ukraine have engaged in several naval clashes.

The international community has been heavily involved in the conflict, with numerous ceasefires and peace agreements being broken. However, none of

these agreements have been able to bring a lasting end to the fighting. The war continues to this date, with occasional flares of violence.

The human cost of the war has been high, with thousands of deaths and the displacement of over 1 million people. The economic and social toll has also been severe, with the region suffering from poverty, unemployment, and a lack of basic services.

In summary, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in 2014, following the ousting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russia's annexation of Crimea. The conflict has escalated into a multi-faceted war, involving separatist rebels in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as ongoing fighting in the Black Sea region, leading to thousands of deaths, displacement and severe economic and social consequences.
