I. Objectives: A. Interpret William Shakespeare Sonnet 18 using deconstruction Approach B. Analyze the life experiences of Shakespear through his poem Sonnet 18 C. Produce written analysis of the poem

Introduction- What is your purpose in deconstructing Sonnet 18?

The goal of deconstructing sonnet 18 is to uncover a binary opposition to the poem and to find the poem's blind spot. This analysis also demonstrates a reader's comprehension of a text and its meaning by dissecting the text to decipher the poem's meaning. This analysis will reveal the poem's true subject, as well as the author's intended message to his readers, and will attempt to decipher the poem's conflicting and true meaning. To sum up, the goal of this sonnet 18 study is to determine the poem's undecidability of meaning, binary opposition, and, finally, hegemony and subjectivity.

Body- Deconstruct Sonnet 18

Shakespear dedicates sonnet 18 to his lover's beauty and praises her as wonderful as a summer day, particularly in the opening two lines, where he asks a rhetorical question on the first line, "should I compare thee to a summer day?" and then characterizes his beloved as beautiful on the second line. However, the persona compared his beloved to a summer day while interpreting the poetry, but in my opinion, the beauty of his beloved as compared to a summer day was not the true meaning of the poem. After giving this poetry a close reading, I believe the persona employs flowery terms to express his beloved's beauty, but upon further examination, the actual meaning of the poem takes on a new meaning. As a result, Shakespeare utilizes the poem's theme as his beloved's beauty, like a summer day, but in my opinion, the persona's beloved refers to us humans, whereas the summer day refers to nature or the environment. If the literary interpretation of persona in the poem is that his beloved's beauty is like a summer day, my close reading interpretation was that we humans are inferior to nature. Furthermore, the fifth

and sixth lines contradict each other because it is stated that the sun makes it too hot at times and that it is often cloudy; however, a close reading of those lines also shows that we humans take care of nature at times, but as time passes, we humans are the ones who destroy it. To summarize, the persona tells how his beloved's beauty is similar to the beauty of a summer day, but by examining the poetry, the persona's message into human people as her beloved and the connection of it to nature as a summer day is also conveyed.

Conclusion- What is the result of the deconstruction?

By using a deconstruction approach to analyze the poem sonnet 18, we can decode a new meaning by dissecting the text as well as the literary message of the persona. The persona emphasizes a friend or lover's appearance and introduces the benefits and drawbacks of the weather; he compared his beloved's beauty to that of a summer day. However, a close reading of the poem reveals a new meaning in which human people are referred to as his beloved and nature is referred to as a summer day. As a result of this deconstruction technique, we can deconstruct the poem sonnet 18, identifying the poem's undecidability of meaning as well as the binary opposition, contradiction, and subjectivity in which human beings are viewed as cherished and nature is viewed as a summer day. As a result, analyzing the poem leaves us unsure of the poem's true message or central theme because it is solely focused on the persona's historical past, which includes power battles.
