CRIMINAL LAW JUSTICE 1
ASSIGNMENT #1
In your own words, describe how the criminal justice system in
the Philippines works.
The Philippine Criminal Justice System refers to being accountable for ensuring the
safety of all communities, promoting prevention and rehabilitation, and providing fair
and equal justice. Moreover, there are five (5) processes by which the Philippine Criminal
Justice System works, and these are the following:
First, the law enforcement process is the prime mover/initiator of the criminal justice
system and also collects evidence for use in the prosecution of suspects in court, so it will
fall on a second process, which is the prosecution process. It is the process of instituting
and carrying out criminal proceedings in a court of law against any person. The third
process was the court, which is the legal system with the authority to make decisions.
After the suspect is convicted, the process will fall on the fourth process, which is
corrections. This process is in charge of supervising people who have been arrested,
convicted, and sentenced for crimes. And the final process is the community and is
considered the informal pillar because they participate directly or indirectly in the
criminal justice system by giving advice to, or representing, persons involved in criminal
actions before the proper authorities. After the convicts have passed through the
correction process, either unconditionally or by pardon, they go back to the community
and either lead normal lives as law-abiding citizens in their place, regrettably, or commit
other crimes.
