CRISIS IN WORLD ORDER

War Criminals, War Victims

Andersonville, Nuremberg, Hiroshima, My Lai

The title War Criminals, Victims of War, refers to the various ethical and

legal issues that arise when individuals participate in the conduct of war.

During the seventies, many students struggled with how to deal with

these issues.

Even though military service in the US has become voluntary, it still

carries with it the same struggles that many young people in other

countries are facing. It explores the ethical considerations involved in

international law and the various forms of violence that are currently

prevalent around the world.

While the cases in War Criminals deal with the responsibility of

individuals, the principles and issues integral to them apply to current

curricula. The study of individual responsibility also intersects with

military policy.

Students should be allowed to fully understand the various functions of

the law to fully understand its potential to promote peace and security.

They should also be guided by an in-depth study on how these functions

can be strengthened to ensure their sustainability.

The cases of the victims of war tables and the war criminals are taken

into account when it comes to the responsibilities that individuals have

when faced with armed conflict.
