All Filipino professionals are required to renew their PRC ID or Professional Identification Card in order to legally continue practicing their profession.

But with the current threat of COVID-19 and the lockdown and quarantine rules in various places in the Philippines, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) offers a convenient alternative so that license application and renewal can be done purely online. This way, you won’t have to leave your homes and your PRC ID can just be shipped and delivered straight to your house.

Of course, you can still visit and drop by a PRC branch for ID renewal, if that’s what you want. Just make sure the PRC office is open since some branches are closed or are just being manned by skeleton workforce as a COVID safety precaution which means processing of ID renewal could be delayed.

Whether you want to apply online for your license renewal or you want to personally drop by a PRC office to do it, we’ve got this step-by-step guide for you. Just make sure you get to renew your PRC ID safely!

CPD requirement for PRC Renewal in 2020

First things first: Can I renew my PRC ID without complying with the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirement? According to the PRC, yes!

Even if you weren’t able to complete the required CPD units, you’re still allowed to renew your PRC license until next year, December 2021.

In February 2019, the PRC released an updated Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the CPD Law and announced that they are not yet fully implementing the CPD units requirement until next year. This was also posted by the PRC in their official LERIS website (Licensure Examination and Registration Information System), saying: “Renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PIC) without full CPD Compliance are accepted until December 2021.”

So how many CPD units are actually required to renew my PRC license?

As of 2020, practically, zero. Of course, it’s great to earn CPD units now for the sake of professional advancement, but the PRC currently allows all applicants to renew their PRC license without the need to fully comply with the required CPD units. This rule is valid until December 2021. The only requirement, for now, is “an undertaking to complete the required CPD credit units for the next compliance period.” Simply speaking, you will be allowed to renew your PRC ID even if you haven’t met the required CPD credit units — as long as you submit an Affidavit of Undertaking.

However, don’t worry, since the PRC ID Online Renewal Application Form already includes an “Undertaking” section. So no need to submit a separate affidavit and no need to have this Affidavit of Undertaking notarized either. Just complete the online PRC Renewal Form and you’re good to go.

  1. Professionals working abroad (overseas) are NOT required to comply with the CPD requirement.

So if you’re asking: Are OFWs working as nurse, CPA, engineer, etc. outside the Philippines required to comply with the CPD requirement? The simple answer is No.

OFW professionals looking to renew their PRC license are exempted from completing the required CPD units. This is certainly beneficial for OFWs who are practicing their profession abroad. Thus, OFWs can simply renew their PRC license anytime without having to comply with the required CPD units.

  1. New board exam passers and recently licensed professionals are also NOT covered by the CPD requirement on their first year.

This is another load off for newly licensed Filipino professionals who can now immediately practice their profession after passing the PRC board exams. However, take note that they shall then be required to start complying with the CPD requirement after the first license renewal cycle.

Can I renew my PRC license online and just have my PRC ID delivered to my home?

Yes, the PRC allows this! This is certainly wonderful news given the threat of coronavirus in the Philippines. PRC license renewal can now be done purely online and the ID card can be shipped to you without you having to leave your home. Just follow the steps below to apply online. If you already have an existing PRC LERIS account, you may skip to Step #3 below.

Step 1: Visit the PRC LERIS website.

Go to the official PRC online renewal website at online.prc.gov. This is the PRC LERIS or the Licensure Examination and Registration Information System. If you previously used and created an account at PRC’s old website at prc- online , please note that according to the PRC, user accounts created there are NO longer active. All applicants must register a different account at the new PRC LERIS website. In some cases, the website could be down or under maintenance, so decide to simply come back at a different time to access the site. Alternatively, you may use PRC’s two other mirror websites below. Don’t worry, these are still managed by PRC and are official and authorized websites for PRC renewal transactions.

  • PRC LERIS alternative site #1: online1.prc.gov
  • PRC LERIS alternative site #2: online2.prc.gov

Take note! For first-time users, you need to register first. If you’ve already registered and with an existing and valid LERIS account, just login to your account then skip to Step #3. Otherwise, proceed to Step #2.

Step 2: Register a PRC account and complete your profile.

A. First-time users need to register and complete their profile. Make sure you have the following information with you before you begin:

 A valid e-mail address (with password so you can login)  A working mobile or cellphone number  Personal data (including date of your graduation)  Soft copy of ID photo, saved in .jpg format on a computer, phone or tablet. The photo should be 2×2 in size, in plain white background; taken no more than 6 months prior to PRC ID renewal; and the applicant must wear decent attire WITH COLLAR in the photo. B. Now, to register and create a PRC LERIS account, follow these steps.

  1. Click the “REGISTER” tab on the right-hand sidebar of the homepage.
  2. Scroll below to view the entire Terms of Service.
  3. Click on the green “ACCEPT” button.
  4. Fill out all required information as printed on your Notice of Admission or Professional Identification Card.
  5. Once completed, check the “I’m not a robot” CAPTCHA then click the green “REGISTER” button.

D. Once signed in, create your Profile by filling out and completing the form. Correctly input all required information, including your personal details, address, telephone and cellphone numbers, you mother’s and father’s details, degree course, school graduated from, and date of graduation, among others.

E. After completing your Profile, click the “SAVE INFORMATION” button.

F. You are required to upload a good quality ID photo. If your photo is rejected, your application will be disapproved, so make sure the photo you will upload must comply with the following:

 2×2 in size;  In plain white background;  Applicant must wear decent attire with collar in the photo;  Applicant should not be wearing eyeglasses in the photo;  Ears of the applicant should not be covered; and  Photo should have been taken no more than 6 months prior to PRC ID renewal.

Step 4: Avail of the Shipping Service.

How to request to have the renewed PRC ID delivered to you? Just choose “Yes” as an answer to the question “Do you want to avail of the shipping service?” You will then be asked to provide the shipping details, basically, everything about your delivery address. The delivery will be handled by W Express , a third-party logistics company contracted by PRC to officially handle the delivery of PRC IDs.

You will then be asked to confirm that you are expressly giving consent to PRC to share your personal information with W Express in order to process the delivery of your PRC ID. Click the “Yes” button in the confirmation pop-up.

Also tick the check box containing your name as a way of affixing your signature and agreeing with the “Declaration and Attestation” mentioned in the page. After ticking the check box, click the “Submit Application” button to proceed to payment.

Take note that there is an additional “convenience fee” or “service fee” that will be charged to you when using these online payment methods. The amount of the convenience fee is as follows:

 Paymaya account balance – P8 convenience fee  Visa and Mastercard credit card (including JCB card and Paymaya Visa) – 1% of the transaction amount  LandBank account – P10 convenience fee  Bancnet savings or debit account – P20 convenience fee You may also pay using UCPB mobile app or over-the-counter payment at any UCPB bank branch. Take note that UCPB charges a P30 convenience fee for the service.

That’s it! You’re done applying to renew your PRC ID. Congrats!

How long before the PRC ID is delivered to me? According to PRC, the delivery lead time is around 5-8 working days. But of course, given the COVID-19 pandemic, expect delays in the delivery of your renewed PRC ID. Can I have my PRC ID delivered abroad? For now, deliveries of PRC ID cards are limited to the Philippines. OFWs or Filipinos residing outside the country who want to renew their PRC license can still renew online but should just choose a Philippine address where the PRC ID can be delivered. Alternatively, they can send a proxy or authorized to transact at the PRC branch on their behalf. Follow the step-by-step guide below and take note of the proxy instructions at the latter part of the article.

For those who prefer to do their renewal application by personally visiting a PRC branch, follow the instructions below and submit all required documents to your chosen PRC office. To do this, you will have to schedule an Online Appointment first.

Can I walk-in or go directly to PRC for renewal without appointment? No, this is not allowed. The PRC requires all applicants transacting personally to first set an appointment days in advance. You’re also not allowed to schedule an appointment on the same day, which means, when you check the calendar in the PRC Online Appointment System, you will see that the earliest available date is the next business day after today. This is because the PRC implements a “No Same Day Appointment Policy.”

To set an online appointment for your PRC renewal application, follow the steps below. Step #1 and Step #2 are similar with the steps in the earlier section since they relate to account creation in the PRC LERIS website. If you already have an existing PRC LERIS account, skip to Step #3 below.

Step 1: Visit the PRC LERIS website.

This step is exactly the same as the first step in the earlier section. Just visit PRC’s online renewal website at online.prc.gov.

Step 2: Register a PRC account and complete your profile.

Again, follow the instructions in the same Step #2 above to open a new PRC LERIS account. Fill out all required information in the Profile section and upload a soft copy of your photo.

Step 3: Schedule an Online Appointment for your PRC Renewal.

A. To renew your PRC ID, click the “TRANSACTION” button located at the top-right portion of the page.

B. In the “Select Transaction” page, click the “RENEWAL” tab, then choose your “Profession” from the drop-down menu. Next, input your PRC License Number. Once completed, click the “Proceed” button.

C. In the succeeding “Appointment” page, select the PRC Office (from the drop-down menu) where you wish to apply for renewal. You will then be given a tentative Appointment Date and Time. Once you have chosen your preferred Appointment Date and Time, click the “PROCEED” button.

Take note that surcharges apply to late renewals, that is, for those renewing license more than twenty (20) days after their birth month. The surcharge fee (for baccalaureate degree) is P30 pesos, while the surcharge fee (for non-baccalaureate degree) is P pesos.

To proceed with payment, click the “Proceed” button then choose your preferred Payment Method.

How can I pay the PRC renewal fee? You may pay the PRC processing fee using any of these payment methods:

(1) Over-the-counter payment at the Cashier of the PRC office where you set your online appointment;

(2) Paymaya or Paymaya Visa card;

(3) Globe GCash;

(4) Landbank’s ePayment portal through your LandBank ATM or Savings account;

(5) Savings or Debit account in any Bancnet member bank; or

(6) UCPB via online payment portal UCPB Connect, mobile banking app, or over-the- counter deposit at any UCPB branch.

To make an over-the-counter payment at the PRC Cashier, take note of the Payment Reference Number or PRN of your transaction. Write down the PRN or take a photo or

screenshot of this number. When you’re at the Cashier of the PRC, give this reference number together with your payment.

Where to find the PRC Payment Reference Number (PRN)? The PRN should appear right after you have chosen the payment method for your PRC transaction. A sample Payment Reference Number is shown below. This PRN is important because this is what you need for your renewal application to be processed and paid.

Step 5. Visit the PRC office on your appointment date.

Once you’ve made the payment, on your Appointment Date and Time, proceed to the PRC Office and bring all required documents. (Of course, if you are paying at the PRC Cashier, you can pay at the cashier on your appointment date, but make sure you complete the payment before the scheduled appointment time.)

What are the requirements I need to bring for my PRC ID or license renewal? Prepare the following requirements beforehand and submit them when you visit the PRC office:
