ABSTRACT

The recognition of LGBT people continues to expand internationally through the power of activism, including advocacy and organizing in a cross-global manner and LGBT coverage in the media. The community needs Pride because even during this day if you look at the world predicament, they are still being cast off. We chose this topic because we accept and support the LGBT community, and we want to take further action because supporting them does not just stop at saying, "I support the LGBT community." Everybody should support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons, irrespective of gender identity and/or sexual orientation. Like other flags created and fought for many times to achieve freedom and peace for one country, Gilbert Baker, an American artist and gay rights activist, also made a rainbow flag for the LGBT community; to achieve freedom and respect. To appreciate his work and support LGBT, we will proudly raise their flag even inside the school campus. Through this, it will help prevent bullies bullying a person who is part of LGBT community. The rainbow pride flag which has become a universal symbol of hope for LGBTQ people worldwide, is more than just a flag, and it’s certainly more than just an emblem celebrated only during every Pride month. Gilbert Baker said, "The flag is an action – it's more than just the cloth and the stripes. The study aims to contribute to the discourse of the LGBT movement at large through an illustration of the ways the flag signifies and configure the ways of understanding of the LGBT community. The researchers recommend that through this critical inquiry, readers are going to be engaged in elevating the lives of the LGBT people and promote the values of gender equality and solidarity.
