Roles of a school nurse

●School nurses can administer medications

analgesics and antipyretics, antacids, antitussives, anticonvulsants,
antiemetics and antidiarrheals, antifungals, antihistamines, and
antibiotics
●The school nurse must understand that disabled students have a right to an
environment that is least restrictive as possible
●The school nurse may sometimes have to act as a counselor and confidante
Role of a nurse in spiritual health
●Needs to be able to conduct a spiritual assessment; recognized the difference between
religious and spiritial needs; identify appropriate spiritual care interventions; and
determine what is appropriate to deliver spiritual care.
