Helllo, I chose to do my Cause-and-Effect essay on how a living donor, or a decease donor can affect the possibility of the recipient having a successful organ to be donated. As for a living donor they have the better chance for the organ to be transferred successfully as for a deceased donor an organ can only survive so long outside of the body to be intact with its new owner. So, this comes down to whether they get a living donor or a deceased donor first for the new organ for the recipient. So in this case the cause would be whether finding a living or deceased donor, and the affect is that either with a living donor the recipient has a better chance at having a fully functioning healthy organ, or where with an organ coming from a deceased donor is time limited which in this case can have any type of complication whether that’s running out of time, something happening with the organ, or to getting it to the recipient fully intact on time. In an article published by the National Library of Medicine, by Raffaele Girlanda mentions, “The reasons for failure to transplant procured organs are multiple and include damage to the organ during procurement, organ unsuitability discovered during or after procurement, sudden unsuitability of the intended recipient to receive the allocated organ and others.” (Girlanda, Deceased organ donation for transplantation: Challenges and opportunities 2016).
